Lundin Links Standing Stones

Fife, Eastern Scotland

One of over 15,000 pictures in the Britain's Historic Sites Collection
by Robert Brooks.

Lundin Links Standing Stones, Fife Eastern Scotland, Lundin Links Standing Stones: Residing beside the fairway of Lundin Links stand these huge sentinel potent symbols of pagan worship, revering obvious significance to both male and female sexual implication.

Lundin Links Standing Stones look somewhat precarious, towering above you to heights of 14, 17 and 18 feet; one can only imagine at the amount of stonework beneath the ground and the mammoth task undertaken possibly some 6000 years ago to transport these monsters into position.

The three surviving monoliths certainly had a fourth member, now long since disappeared, giving rise to the possibility that some archaeologists believe Lundin Links Standing Stones were once part of a complete stone circle, how impressive that must have been we can only envisage.

Certain alignments to distant hills have been claimed, but as with most of these sacred, mystical sites, we can only surmise as to the reason for erecting them. The best access is via Lundin Links Golf Course where permission must be sought, though the stones are visible, due to their sheer size, from surrounding roads and Largo Law (Hill).

Location: On Lundin Links Golf Course west of Lower Largo Village on north side of A 915, east of Leven between Kirkcaldy and St.Andrews, Fife, Eastern Scotland.

Rated for a visit: 10/10.
